Day 6, Daily Report brought to you by our Gold, Silver, and Bronze tier sponsors.

Welcome to Day 6 and Test 9 of the Canadian National Retriever Championship. Today is significantly cooler than yesterday, with a temperature of 14 degrees and overcast skies. The gallery is bundled up, and rain is forecast to begin around 1:00 PM. Although it’s cool, these are perfect conditions for the dogs running this large land quad. We had a later start this morning, with the male test dog, “Dusty,” and handler Mike Zelman coming to the line at 8:40 AM. The female test dog today is “Putzi,” handled by Ann Steer.  Dog #59 came to line at 9:10 am.

The test is a land quad with 4 retired guns.  The guns are shot around the clock from left to right.  All guns retire when the 4th gun shoots.  Gun#1 is thrown r-l at 240 yards, and is a rooster pheasant.  Gun #2 is thrown r-l at 326 yards, and is a rooster pheasant. Gun #3 is thrown l-r at 294 yards and is a rooster pheasant.  Gun #4 is thrown r-l at 178 yards and is a drake mallard.   The mat is oriented NW and the wind is coming from E-NE at 11 kmph.  The test is approximately 8:00 minutes.

Todays breakfast sponsors are Baypoint Kennel, Medie Robinson, Allan & Moni Robertson, and Michael Lipeseic.

Note that yesterday’s (Test 8) callbacks were adjusted to include dog 59.  19 dogs started test 9.
