Welcome to Day Six of the National Retriever Championship. Test #9 was at Chamberlains and Test #10 at Baypoint Kennels.
The morning started off foggy but soon cleared to a beautiful warm sunny day with temperatures in the mid 20’s.
TEST #9 QUAD LAND MARKS WITH 2 RETIRED GUNS
The test site for Test #9 was a large grassy field with wildflowers and clusters of goldenrod and small shrubs. The dogs had to navigate rolling topography and a shallow ditch running through the test. The mat faced north and the wind came from the south at 6 km/h
The first bird thrown is the middle left bird, a drake mallard, thrown to the left (220 yds). The second bird thrown is the left hand bird (105 yds). This is a hen mallard thrown into the test to the right. The middle right bird is the third bird thrown, It is a rooster pheasant thrown to the left (140 yds). The fourth bird is 85 yds from the line. A hen pheasant thrown to the right. The middle left and middle right gunners retire behind brushed in blinds.

Test #9 test dogs were Astrid handled by Peter Mottola and Piper handled by Grant Koeing.
Starting Dog #35 came to the line at 10:00 am after waiting for the fog to lift. The test concluded at 12:00 pm
The 12 dogs called back to Test #10 were 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 30, 36, 37, 47 and 48
Dogs not called back were 21, 35 and 43.
TEST #10 QUAD WATER MARKS WITH THREE RETIRED GUNS
Test site for Test #10 is a large pond with several points and natural cover.
The quad is thrown starting with the right bird, a drake mallard, thrown to the left (61 yds). The next bird is across the pond, a hen mallard thrown to the right down the shore into heavy cover (102 yds). Bird number three is across the pond and up the hill (164 yds). A drake mallard is thrown to the left to the base of a sumac bush. The last bird on the left is a hen mallard thrown into the test onto a small island (91 yds). A second shot goes off at the arc of this bird. The gunners retire into brushed in blinds when the go bird is shot,

WINNER CELEBRATION
The winner’s celebration was held at the 2022 National Headquarters. Drinks, appetizers, a live band and fireworks!
Dealer’s Choice Duo (Chico Sanchez, Dylan Marz and Brenda Atkinson) had many people up dancing and singing along.
